Episode 31

#31: Unlocking Life Focus: Lessons from French Culture

In this episode, I discuss the concept of "life focus," drawing inspiration from French culture. It's crucial to shift focus away from obsessive thoughts about weight and food, as constant preoccupation with weight and diet can hinder weight loss or health goals.

I explore three ways to become more life-focused:

  • Learning: French people prioritize continuous learning, whether through reading diverse materials, watching documentaries, or visiting museums and exhibits.
  • Experiencing: This involves embracing travel, taking guided tours, attending cooking classes, and enjoying tastings or live shows.
  • Connecting: Additionally, fostering connections with others through meaningful conversations and shared experiences contributes to a fulfilling life.

To shift towards a life-focused mindset, the episode outlines practical steps such as identifying topics for further learning, planning new experiences, and reconnecting with friends and family. Embracing the French approach to life focus not only enhances overall well-being but also helps with sustainable weight loss as a natural byproduct of a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

Karen Gombault

I’m Karen, and I know firsthand the challenges of balancing a passionate career with personal health.

As a former CEO with 30 years in corporate leadership, I’ve lived the pressures of work, travel, raising a family and emotional eating.

For years, I tried every diet, counting calories and macros, even training for marathons, but nothing worked long-term.

It wasn’t until I focused on how I thought about myself and my weight that I finally lost the last 10 pounds and have kept it off over 7 years.

Now, as a coach and mentor, I help ambitious women think differently and lose weight permanently.
